Southampton names new elementary school principal
The Southampton School District Board of Education has appointed Melissa Danowski as the new Southampton Elementary School principal.
“We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Melissa Danowski and welcome her to our district,” said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Fatima Morrell. “Her leadership experience and dedication to educating students are remarkable. We are certain that she will make a difference in the lives of students at Southampton Elementary School.”
Danowski, of Patchogue, joins the Southampton School District from the Middle Country Central School District, where she was the assistant principal of New Lane Memorial Elementary School. She previously served as a school building and district leader intern in the North Bellmore School District.
Prior to serving as an administrator, Danowski taught fifth grade in North Bellmore, as well as first, fourth and fifth grade at the Laurel Hill School in East Setauket.
In addition to her academic roles, she has been a guest speaker at Hofstra University and Long Island University.
Danowski holds a Bachelor of Arts in elementary education from SUNY Oneonta and a Master of Arts in literacy education from Long Island University.
“I am honored to join the Southampton Elementary School community as principal,” said Danowski. “This is a school with deep roots, rich traditions and a strong track record of excellence. My goal is to build on the strong foundation already in place by fostering a culture of joyful learning, academic excellence and meaningful relationships. Together with our dedicated staff, families and community partners, I hope to ensure that every student feels seen, supported and inspired to thrive in and out of the classroom."
